Petoskey asking for donations to build community trail

The Petoskey Community Trail project will be the crowning jewel to enhance the new Petoskey Community Athletic complex, which includes a multi-use stadium for football, soccer, track and band competitions plus practice fields, improvements to several existing sports facilities, additional parking and improved traffic flow. The Petoskey Community Trail will offer residents, visitors and students a winding, rolling venue to walk, run and cross country ski. The trail will be designed and built for year around multi-purpose use. It will offer a safe layout, avoiding the crossing of any roads. The trailhead will have parking available. Signage will indicate various loops and distances on the trail.
The Petoskey Community Trail is a collaborative project between the Petoskey Public Schools, Petoskey Education Foundation, the City of Petoskey, Northern Lakes Economic Alliance and the greater Petoskey Community. The schools will provide the property where the trails will be located. The City and the schools will provide maintenance and upkeep after the trails are built. Winter maintenance will include grooming for cross country skiing.
