Just about everyone knows the Forbush Corner story and how Dave Forbush planned for his life’s passion and legacy to continue after his untimely death last year. Dave setup a trust and turned the ownership over to five individuals in hope that Forbush Corner could sustain future operation. Anyone in the XC ski business will tell you there are a lot more lucrative business opportunities than operating a ski touring center. Breaking even is considered a financial success. In spite of the monetary challenge that lies ahead, the new owners of Forbush had enough passion and goodwill to make a donation to Big City Mountaineers in support of my upcoming Continental Divide Thru-Hike with the purpose to raise money and awareness for under-resourced urban youths through transformative wilderness mentoring expeditions.

Most of us have continued to participate in the Michigan Cup Ski series not only because we love skiing but because we love the people who make this sport so special. With the help of so many people I have been able to continue on my track of raising $25,000 for Big City Mountaineers, however, this contribution is very heart warming to me because it captures the spirit and purpose of this adventure. I want to give a heartfelt thanks to the owners of Forbush Corner for their kind donation.
