Sign petition to ban fatbikes from Vasa Trail during ski season

We have formed a coalition of dedicated Vasa trail skiers who are requesting a Director’s Order from the DNR to ban fat bikes from the Vasa ski trails during ski season. We are preparing for a public forum on April 28th at the Traverse City Civic Center from 5-8 pm. This meeting should have been conducted a year ago. There will be an independent moderator there to take public comment from those who attend.

Petition: At the same time, our group has posted an online petition to gather signatures in support of the Director’s Order. That petition is available at: http://chn.ge/1ohSS0F.

Letters: Leading up to the meeting, we are working with Todd Neiss of the DNR Cadillac office. He is requesting letters from all interested parties on the topic including those in favor of the Director’s Order. Letters can be sent by snail mail or email to:

We are asking all skiers who care about this vital issue to respond to Todd. We have just received a unanimous vote of support from the Michigan Cup board to support the effort for separate trails for bikers and skiers.
