Aspen Snowmass Nordic council mulls fat bike access to local ski trails

Following an inaugural fat-tire bike race on a specially built snow track at Aspen’s Marolt Open Space during the Winterskol Festival in January, the track will be left in place all winter to gauge the demand for groomed Nordic-style trails among a growing number of local fat bikers.

And as the sport of fat biking continues to grow, the Aspen Snowmass Nordic Council is mulling whether to provide fat bikers with groomed access to other parts of its extensive trail network over time. The bikes are currently banned from all Aspen Snowmass Nordic trails, and from the Spring Gulch Nordic trail network south of Carbondale...
