Popup Enduro race this Sunday

At the kind request of Mayor Kennedy of North Olmsted we are going to co-host a fun and family-friendly Enduro-format event THIS Sunday (February 2nd) at Springvale Country Club near Great Northern Mall. An Ohio Nordic/Hilltoppers XC tradition since 2005, we have held enduros all over -- in multiple states - for better or for worse - but this location is truly the best!

What's an Enduro? This is a "ski-as much as you (and your friends, neighbors and family) can/want in one hour" on a ~1K groomed loop. There will be snacks, food and beverages (of all kinds) available for purchase in the very warm clubhouse. This was a great time when we did it back in 201? and we'll fire it up again while the snow gods are smiling on us from West Side to East. Temperatures will also be great for getting outdoors (and indoors) after another cold snap. Course will have a few climbs and rolls to keep it interesting for the racers but good for all levels on a short course.

Families are strongly encouraged to participate on the same team, but any combination of skiers is fine - boyfriend/girlfriend, neighbors, friends, teammates, random strangers, bowling teams, please just don't bring the dog. Multiple awards across multiple categories depending on entries. Solos are most welcome if you want an hour-long ski workout but much more fun as a team so we'll put novice and less-hearty individuals looking for team-mates on mixed teams day of race. Always plenty of solos looking for team-mates and we'll put you on a team if you can't find others. All HILLTOPPERS families are encouraged to attend.

This is pop event is a celebration of 10 years of Hilltoppers XC and the many great skiing families and friends that make up the Ohio Nordic skiing community. All levels of skiers are welcome from true beginner to experienced racers.

Details:

Registration of teams starts at 12:30PM through 1:30PM. Enduro starts promptly at 2PM. Race Fee per TEAM of $15 (up to 3) or $10 per individual. EVENT IS FREE for all current Ohio Nordic & Hilltoppers XC families but open to everyone else as well. Course will be groomed for both skate and classic with classic tracks on the inner-loop (conditions permitting)

Team Registration and Individual will be day-of. Get outside before watching the superbowl.

Individual classic skiers! may also opt for a traditional 5K timed tour (classic technique only). Tour Fee $10.

Directions: Take the I480 Exit 6A (Rt. 252 - Great Northern Blvd. South). If coming from the East side this will be the second of the two Great Northern Blvd. exits. Turn RIGHT on Butternut Ridge Rd. Canterbury Rd. is then first Left with Springvale CC on your left.
