The Telemark Resort just gets no respect. It’s had a long history of financial instability. This past April, it closed under foreclosure when a sale fell through, and the power meters were removed by Bayfield Electric Cooperative.
The Lodge was finally sold last week for $926,000 to Newco LLC out of Colorado. There is no information on what Newco will do with the resort. One thing is certain: the outdated, 200-room hotel and convention center in northern Wisconson, host to World Cup cross country ski races and the American Birkebeiner, is expected to deteriorate further as it remains closed and unheated over this coming winter.
