We have been very pleased to welcome three new board members this past summer. They each bring years of skiing experience to the table and a wealth of energy and new ideas to the party. Profiles on each of them are as follows:
Dr. Bill Smith- Bill recently retired after over 35 years as a family physician at West Front Primary Care. He has competed in 18 Vasa races and one world masters in Lillehamer, Norway. He enjoys most outdoor activities particularly hiking, cycling and Nordic skiing. His wife Mary is an administrator at TBA Career Tech Center and also enjoys many of the same outdoor activities. Bill will act as our new Medical Advisor as well as other duties.
Dr. Steve Andriese is a Physical Medicine and Rehab doctor, father of 3, and married to Mary Andriese. Steve moved to TC from Grand Rapids seven years ago and enjoys his passions for cycling as well as Nordic skiing and alpine skiing. He has been actively involved with the Vasa Ski Club, the middle school Nordic program, the Hagerty Bike Team, enjoys ski marathons and looks forward to helping to make the NAV the best it can be.
His primary duties will be as Co-Chief of our new FatBike race.
Michele Howard is a very active mother of three and is married to local attorney, Scott Howard who is on the Tart board. Michele works as a Librarian at Northwest Michigan College and is also the social media person for the Iceman Cometh Bike race. She is a very enthusiastic cyclist, Nordic and Alpine skier as well as a competitive triathlete. She is also an accomplished cook. Michele's primary duties are as Co-Chief of our new FatBike race as well as one of our liaisons with local cycling community. She will also assist with our media programs.
