Northern Michigan Fat Bike Series announced that The North American VASA will bring add a fat biking race to the Series.
The North American VASA will host the VASA King Fat Bike Race on Sunday, February 9. Heading out after the classic skiers in the Gran Travers, bikers will be taking on some of the most well-groomed and picturesque trails in Northern Michigan. Says the Series, "It’s a great opportunity to fat bikers to take on the same trails as one of the Midwest’s largest ski races. Plus, it is one day after most of the skiers race, meaning more than a few folks will do the double and race skis on Saturday and fat tires on Sunday."
Fatbike racing on cross country ski trails has had it's share of controversy. In last year's Noquemanon Ski Marathon, fatbike racers started two hours after the skiers, catching up to many ski racers still on the trail. Several skiers complained of being hit by bikes.
