Sub tropical heat and a distinct lack of snow did not stop Venezuela's Cesar Baena from skiing to his heart's content. The competitive cross country skier set out in April to break his own world record for roller skiing, and spent a few months criss-crossing Venezuela on his fluorescent skis.
Baena smashed his previous record distance of 2,246.21 kilometres from Stockholm, Sweden, to Oslo, Norway, between 11 May and 5 July 2012, by travelling over 2,500 this time, although the new record still has to be ratified by Guinness World Records.
Later this year Cesar will attempt to qualify for the 2014 Winter Olympics.
