On January 12, 2013, 60 athletes defied Mother Nature and completed a 12k cross-country ski race on man-made snow at Huron Meadows Metropark in Brighton, Michigan. Just 3 days before the race, there was nearly 10" of beautiful, natural powder on the course, but rain showers and rising temperatures destroyed the regular trail. The crew at Huron Meadows used a stockpile of man-made snow to create a fun loop and the race went on as scheduled.
