Go for the Snow! New Year’s Getaway
For the past few years the weather in late December has been iffy. But we are determined to spend the New Year’s weekend skiing somewhere!
Mid-December we'll take a look at the weather patterns, forecasts, and the old crystal ball. Those willing to roll the dice and take a chance will help us decide which way to head and where to make reservations.
Lodging and Price: To be determined by December 15.
Meals: In restaurants. Bring your own lunches.
Maximum: 10 people - Indicate interest by December 5.

Snow and Go Weekender
We’ll keep an eye on the weather map and head to where there’s snow. The Grayling area is a strong possibility, both for its snowbelt location and for its great ski trails.
Lodging and Price: To be determined by December 26.
Meals: In restaurants. Bring your own lunches. Snack bars might be available at ski areas.

Black Mountain Weekender
Ski the scenic 15-mile Black Mountain Forest Pathway in the Mackinac State Forest. This volunteer-groomed trail has 5 loops. Two are rated 'easiest'. Three are rated 'more difficult'. Some sections are groomed for skating. A steeper trail nearby goes up Black Mountain, the highest hill in the Lower Peninsula.
Views of forests, Black Lake, and, on some days, Lake Huron. We will stay at the recently remodeled Black Mountain Lodge, a beautiful log building overlooking East Twin Lake. Ski to trails.

Price: $82/person double-occupancy. Trail fees are voluntary. If trip is cancelled due to no snow, price will be refunded less $6.00-$11.00.

Saturday's Frosty Freestyle will have skate and classic divisions for both the 5K and the 15K race. Choose your technique and distance. Shorter distance races for kids 11 and younger.

Hiawatha Sportsman’s Club Getaway
Enjoy comfort and camaraderie in 5 cabins on Millecoquins Lake. Enjoy skiing on the club’s many miles of trails on 35,000 acres of land and water or at nearby Canada Lakes Pathway, Northern Hardwoods, Tahquamenon Falls, and Sand Dunes. 75 miles to Valley Spur. All levels of skiers will enjoy this trip.

DNR/MacMullan Weekender - Learn to Ski Option!
Enjoy this 1930's era, CCC-built lodge across the road from eight miles of DNR trails and 20 minutes or less from at least four more ski areas. Both beginner and experienced skiers will enjoy the many options.
The leader will arrange morning beginner lessons at cost for those interested at X-C Ski Headquarters (10 minutes away) or take the free beginner lesson offered at 4 pm Saturdays. Intermediate and skate skiing lessons available by own arrangement.

Georgian Triangle Getaway
Enjoy beautiful views of Georgian Bay from Scenic Caves Nordic Center, a 22 km trail system in the forests atop Blue Mountain or from Wasaga Nordic, a noted bird and wildlife habitat with 30 km of trails through oak, pine, and dunes.
Nearby destinations are Hardwood Hills (30 km), Highland Nordic (24 km), and Horseshoe Valley (35 km). Some trails are groomed for skating. All have day lodges sell refreshments. Choose how many days you want to stay.

Lake Ann Weekender
The lodge at Sleeping Bear Resort, located near the Lake Ann trails and within an easy drive of Sleeping Bear Dunes, will be a great location for skiing, snowshoeing, and having fun. For those leaving early on Friday, there can be a stop at Crystal Mountain and its 40 km of ski trails. This trip will run regardless of ski conditions; there are opportunities for wine country tours, hiking, a visit to Traverse City, or a concert at Interlochen.

Mackinac Island Presidents Day Getaway
Mackinac Island in winter is a quiet, private, magical place and an adventure not to be missed. Six milesof groomed trails on the eastern side of the island are reserved for cross-country skiers but it’s possible to ski the whole island. Ski/snow shoe rentals, ski lessons available. A 5 minute flight from St. Ignace. Take ferry if running.
