The North American Vasa Festival of cross-country ski races has announced that it will be bringing back the 50-50 Grooming Raffle, by popular demand. Similar raffles have been conducted from many years to raise money for Nordic ski grooming equipment and expenses when the Vasa ski trails were being developed in the early 1990's. The VASA nordic trail system is comprised of 60 km of meticulously groomed trails for both Freestyle and Classic skiing, The System is a part of the beautiful Pere Marquette State Forest. The trails are maintained by the Traverse City area community through the TART Trails organization.
Trail expenses include grooming for the North American Vasa which will run from February 9-11th. In addition, several major trail improvements are planned for 2007. The Vasa trail system has evolved into a year-around recreational paradise for Hikers, Bicyclists, Runners, Walkers, Snowshoers as well as Nordic skiers.
The raffle tickers are $25 each and five for $100. All proceeds will be split 50-50 with a maximum award of $3,500. Second price is a Getaway weekend at the Timber Ridge RV and Recreation Resort in Traverse City, which is home to the North American Vasa.
