Hanson Hills has been busy grooming the course over the past week and a half in preparation for the Michigan Cup Sprints on Sunday, Feb 4, part of Hanson Hills' Winter Fun Days. The Sprints, an official Michigan Cup points race, features a loop slightly less than a kilometer long. Flat, the course emphasizes going fast rather than climbing hills.
The course begins with six tracks set through a no-skate zone from the starting line. The tracks then disappear and the course continues in a loop, wide enough in most places for skaters to ski side-by-side. The race is freestyle.
All racers compete in an interval start time trial, starting at 10:00am. The top 48 men, 24 women, 24 girls, 24 boys from the time trial move on into heats of 6. The top 2 from each heat move on to later heats of 4. There will be an A-final (top 4) and a B-final (second 4) heat at the end for each category.
A full set of Michigan Cup points will be awarded: 200 place for men, 51 places for women, and 40 place each for junior boys and junior girls. Age classes consist of the normal Michigan Cup age categories:
The entry fee is only $10. What's does that fee get you?
