SOUTH MARQUETTE TRAILS
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL
NON-MOTORIZED
TRAIL USERS
*Close to home recreation, right outside your back door, we can ride, run or drive 5 minutes to our local trails, so speak your mind and let our public officials understand that public land and non motorized trails are part of Marquette we want to preserve.*
To all KMK, NTN Members and local trail users:
Please note, there is a crucial Public Forum on January 8th, 2007 at 6pm being held in the City Commission Chambers (Same building as the City Police Department, 300 West Baraga).
The Marquette City Commission will be holding a public meeting that will be focusing on the Heartwood Forest area, aka South Marquette Trails (Note Map). They are encouraging citizens to comment on the future of this public land.
The City is currently in a decision-making process to decide if they should sell the property, keep the entire acreage for recreational use or divide some of it up for future development/recreation.
As a trail user it is helpful to educate your elected officials that preserved land and non motorized trails are something that makes Marquette UNIQUE!
If we speak our views to the City Commission we can make a huge difference in their planning Marquette’s future. Please help spread the word to others so we may have an overwhelmingly unified voice that evening. If you can’t make the meeting, please email the City Commissioners:
