
Saturday was the final day for the U.S. Cross Country Junior Olympic Championships in Lake Placid, where over 400 juniors ages 14-19 have been competing all week. Juniors from Michigan formed 3-person teams to race one leg each in a freestyle/classic relay.
Traverse City's Julia Coulter, Anna Coulter, and Cassidy Edwards placed second in the junior girls 16-17 3-by-5km relay in 50:55.5, earning All American status again for skiing within a percentage of the winner's times. Natalie Dall'Olmo and Laura Meeker of TC joined Ingrid Fjeldheim from Marquette's Superiorland team to take 15th place for ages 18-19 in 56:56.1.
Chris Scott and John Hall from TC were joined by Ian Smith from Boyne for the boys 16-17 race, coming in 18th in 48:53.6. Traverse City's Cam Ross joined 2 Michigan Tech University skiers, Matt Allyn and Adam Airoldi, for the boys race for 18-19, and they placed 10th in 47:17.8, while Rapid City's Morgan Weir also joined 2 MTU boys, Chris Miller and Dave Siegfried, and came in 19th in 49:17.0.
In the boys 14-15 3-by-3km race, Superiorland's Jared Cregg and Jason Carstens teamed with Copper Country's Keith Helminen for 15th place in 30:35.9.
