Noquemanon Trail Network Receives $75,000 Pledge from the Superiorland Ski Club!
Marquette, MI — The Noquemanon Trail Network (NTN) is excited to announce it has received a $75,000 pledge from the Superiorland Ski Club for its Capital Campaign.
This pledge is a definite confirmation of the strong partnership between the Superiorland Ski Club and the Noquemanon Trail Network. “We provide the trails and infrastructure,” claims Laurie Neldberg-Weesen, Capital Campaign Chair, “ The Ski club provides the community atmosphere and programming”.
The bulk of the donation will help fund the building of a lodge at the new Forestville Trailhead. The lodge will serve as the headquarters and clubhouse for the Superiorland Ski Club’s programs. “It will be a great addition for the Marquette Community, explains Dennis Whitely, Superiorland Ski Club President, “Kids and family’s need a place to get warm, gather and socialize. There have been many generations of children that have grown up here in the Marquette area that didn’t have this opportunity. Lots of cold fingers and toes waiting for rides at the trailhead has been a fact of life for many trail users.”
The lodge will over look the new ski stadium/ learning area that will accommodate all of the Superiorland Ski Club’s youth programming as well as large scale events such as the Junior Olympics and the US Nationals. The funding will also support the trail expansion at Forestville, where many of the trails will homologate to fall within the guidelines of FIS standards for National and International X-C Ski competitions.
