Marquette, MI — The Noquemanon Trail Network (NTN) has expanded its trail operations for the winter of 2006-2007.
For this winter it will be offering all types of new options for non-motorized trail users. The new Forestville Trailhead will be the headquarters for all of the new activities. The new trailhead will feature new skiing terrain which includes a lit loop that will be lit in the evenings and in the early mornings. There also is a new beginner trail, bypass trail and advanced trail. All of the new trails loop around the new trailhead.
Other services that will be provided include new cross country ski and snowshoe rentals as well as lessons. The new “learn to ski” lessons will be offered every weekend beginning December 22, 2006 and through the entire winter. The “learn to ski” lessons include a one hour group lesson, rentals and a day trail pass. They will be offered for classical and skating technique. All learn to ski lessons are geared for beginners. There are also private lessons available for all levels. All lessons require advance reservations.
The NTN plans on grooming all of the trails within its system on almost a daily basis. “There will be at least one trailhead groomed every day”, says Chris Lawler, head NTN groomer. The NTN grooms with new low-snow grooming apparatus’s as well as with its two Bombardier groomers.
