
Eleven local junior XC skiers travelled to Lake Placid, NY over the weekend to participate in the US Cross Country Junior Olympic Championships this week. Over 400 juniors ages 14-19 will be competing from 9 divisions around the country.
The first competition was a one km sprint qualifier on Monday with Glen Lake's Cassidy Edwards taking fourth place for girls 16-17 in 2:25.16. Three TC high school girls followed her, Julia Coulter 14th in 2:29.19, Natalie Dall'Olmo 21st in 2:31.92, and Anna Coulter 27th in 2:33.83.
TC Christian's Laura Meeker took 23rd for 14-15 yr old girls in 2:38.06.
Cam Ross, who graduated from TC last year, placed 25th for 18-19 yr old boys in 2:09.84.
Chris Scott led the 16-17 yr old boys from TC, 30th in 2:11.85, with Boyne's Ian Smith 77th in 2:23.56, and TC's John Hall 81st in 2:25.79. Rapid City's Morgan Weir followed in 82nd place in 2:25.98.
For 14-15 yr old boys, TC's Kyle Endicott took 58th in 2:33.66.
There are two more individual races scheduled, Wednesday's classic race and Friday's freestyle race, followed by a relay on Saturday for the finale. For complete results, see www.orda.org/jo2004.html.
