Boulder Lake Ski Race – Duluth MN premier early season ski race
The 4th Annual Boulder Lake Ski Race to be held on January 14, 2007, just north of Duluth is poised to be the "must do early season ski race". The race is under new directorship, and energy is in place to make this a great north woods tradition on every skier’s calendar. Changes include:
Race director Clayton Keim said: "The founders of this race, Rod Raymond, Tim and Brad Nelson, had a vision of making this the premier early season cross country ski race that folks would see not only as competitive, but fun and laid back. We want to continue this vision of fun and competitive, highlight Minnesota Power’s beautiful trail system, and have a lot of great giveaways."
The gently rolling, mostly flat course is a great start to the long races that fall later in the season. It won't burn you out too early. Last year we saw 107 finishers, and we believe this race has growth potential. We are stepping up marketing, lowered early registration fees, contracted chip timing, and increased the number of age divisions. We are also going to have a couple small heated tents as the shelter is small. Not many events offer what we are going to for just $25."
Registration is open online at both Active.com and Midwestevents.com. Prices are $25 up to 12/23/06, $35 12/24/06-1/8/07, and $45 1/9/07-10:00 a.m. race day.
