
CXC Ski Team Launches at West Yellowstone
Central Cross Country Ski Association is pleased to announce three top 5 finishers at the SuperTour Sprint at West Yellowstone, MT. The top result was first place for Laura Valaas in the women’s sprint race with Caitlin Compton coming in a strong third. Finishing second was Swiss skier Karin Camenisch, SuperTour Sprint overall champion the last two years. In the men’s race Garrott Kuzzy won the B Final taking 5th place overall.
“It was exciting to start the race season and was a good test of our summer training. My skis and wax were running fast and I’m happy with how well the race went tactically”, commented Garrott Kuzzy after the race.
“The team was full of positive energy today; I really appreciated the support from my teammates, sponsors, and friends. It was also super fun to race the A final with Compton in our first race as teammates”, said Laura Valaas
“Everything went extremely smooth today. The wax was fast, the skis felt great and our new Black Feather poles were very effective during sprint rounds. I’m excited about our start to the season and look forward to continuing our success throughout the season” stated Caitlin Compton.
“It’s great to finally see the team in the action. We have an outstanding team with a great coach in Bryan Fish. He worked tirelessly to bring the team towards this success” said Yuriy Gusev, Chief Executive Officer of the Central Cross Country Ski Association.
