Team NSR Kuhl Finishes Free Press Marathon

Team NordicSkiRacer Mackenzie Kuhl finished the blustery but sunny 2006 Detroit Free Press/Flagstar Bank International Marathon in 3:50:41.

She finished the first half of the race in 1:52:02 then went on to complete the second half in 1:58:39. She did the "underwater mile" - the Detroit-Windsor tunnel - in 8:06. With an overall finish place of 1,063, Mackenzie was the 46th women in the 25-29 age division.

Sunday’s 29th running of the Free Press Marathon and its associated races featured 15,804 registered runners, walkers, wheelers and handcyclists — an 18.7% increase from last year’s record field and a 332% increase from just 2000.

The marathon started at 7:15am in sub-40 degree weather and a brisk wind. There were almost 4,000 marathoners. This was Mackenzie's first marathon.
