I'll be in town and holding rollerski clinics on Saturday and Sunday, June 22 and 23.
These dates will also include a special coaching guest Dejan Krsmanovic. He's a retired World Cup biathlete from Serbia and has been coaching the National ski team of Argentina over the past several years. He now owns the largest roller ski wheel factory in the world and will be brining samples of the latest top-of-the-line roller skis and durable wheel technology to demo if you're interested. We'll be co-coaching, so I would hope to have a much larger group of participants as he has a wealth of experience and knowledge about ski technique as well.
With Dejan attending, we can easily split everyone into two groups - elite and non-elite - and switch halfway through so everyone will get feedback from both of us. (I would consider elite skiers in Michigan as those who finish consistently in the top 20 overall in Michigan Cup races.)
Saturday will start with a group skate rollerski around the lake from 10:00-11:30am. Meet at our usual Martindale Beach parking lot. We'll stop as needed to review efficiencies for the various grades and corners, etc. Should be fun and exciting to get together again to talk some skiing even though I'm still skiing nearly every day up here in Alaska on real snow. I hope to bring some motivating ski spirit with me. $40 each for the group technique review roll.
I'm open to hosting some individual sessions for $50/ 30 minutes. Classic, skate, or how to properly use poles running or hiking, your choice. I'll start those at 12:00 and go however long.
Sunday is mainly for elite skiers but with two coaches, others are welcome. We'll meet at the Windfall parking lot just inside the Milford Road entrance (by the Dairy Queen and Baker's). Some of us have met there before. This will be either skate or classic based on popular vote from 9:00-11:00 am. $40 each.
We can do individual sessions following the same as the day before. Anyone's welcome to come either day, or come to the group on Saturday and individual on Sunday. Just email me back ([email protected]) and ask what you prefer...I'm flexible.
As always, please get ready for this if you plan to attend. It's a pet peeve of mine to hear that your session with me is the first time you've roller skied all year. It takes a session or two to get the feel of roller skis, balance comfort, and all the wiggles out. So, to make the most of your time with me, please get those wheels rolling and be ready to learn something new to work on thereafter.
