30th Annual Junior Muffin Race

UPDATE FEB 20: Good afternoon, coaches and supporters of junior skiing!

It’s shaping up to be an epic Muffin Race this Sunday, February 26th. Maybe some of the best conditions ever as long as the storm delivers snow this week. Either way, we’ve got a huge stockpile of man-made snow at the ready, so plan on great conditions for the 30th Annual Muffin Race no matter what the weather does. This year will feature a Team Sprint Freestyle Relay as we’ve done in the past few years, with 2 skiers per team, each skiing 3 laps (6 laps per team). Laps will be around 2km. Cost is $20 per 2-person team. Awards given to top three teams in each division (Male, Female, and Co-Ed), AND awards for BEST COSTUMES!!

There will also be day-of registration starting at 9:30. The race starts at 10:30.

“Mini Muffin” freestyle races (ages 12 and under) will start afterwards, around 11:30. Ages 6 and under will do 0.5 km, ages 7-9 will do 1.5km, and ages 10-12 will do 2.5km. Mini Muffin races will do “starting line” registration (free); there is no pre-registration for the Mini Muffin races. Then lunch and awards afterwards for ALL racers! All Mini Muffin racers receive a medal.

Join us for the longest standing juniors race in Michigan! The Muffin Race celebrates the fun of youth skiing with a Junior Girls and Boys 5km Team Sprint Relay Race. This 13+ freestyle relay race will feature two skiers per relay team. Each skier will ski a total of 3 laps around a 1.5km course, handing off to their teammate between each lap, totaling 6 laps per team. Registration begins at 9:30am on Sunday, with a 10:30am start. This is a Michigan Cup Junior Race, and registration fee is $10. Medals will be awarded to the top 3 teams in the Girls, Boys, and Co-Ed divisions. Awards will also be given for best costumes! After the Muffin Team Sprint Relay Race, we will hold three Mini Muffin freestyle races: Ages 6 years old and under, 7 to 9, and 10 to 12. All racers 12 and under will be awarded a medal. There is no entry fee for the Mini Muffin racers. All racers receive a post-race lunch, which costs $5 for anyone else who might be hungry too. All racers and family members who partake in the lunch receive a complimentary Facilities Pass.
