The North American VASA is a Michigan Cup race and part of the American Ski Marathon Series. New this year: The Vasa is a Freestyle event only. There will be classic tracks, but the race combines skate and classic skiers together for placing. No worries: The Gran Travers (now the Vasa Classic) is the premier classic event, with new distances!
The 6km Freestyle race on Saturday is designated for all boys and girls, including high school racers. Please note: Skiers over age 19 may participate in the 6K race.Given the small number of those over 19 in these races, only the younger racers will be recognized with awards.
Are you a newer skier who wants to partake in the fun but does not want to race? Or are you an established skier or retired racer who would rather tour than race?
Then join us for the Short's Short Tour, a 6 km FUN, untimed tour for all skiers on Saturday, February 11. All ages and abilities are encouraged to participate. The entry fee will include the same spiffy hat that the racers get.
Saturday's Vasa 48km freestyle race will count for full Michigan Cup points, and the 28km race will count for partial points.
