Snow cover is good at the Boyne Valley Lodge but sticks on the trail make it hard to set classic tracks... If classic skiing is not good here, we will do the classic race on Sunday at Boyne Mountain on the Vista Loop (excellent condition).
UPDATED RESULTS! Amy Powell and Milan Baic won the senior divisions of the first ever Michigan Cup Race held at Lakes of the North Winterstart freestyle 7.5 km race. This was a very challenging race as very soft conditions prevailed.
The weather forecast is looking better by the day. We are now under a winter storm watch for Thur morning through Friday. We will make the call as soon as possible but may have to wait till Friday am.

Right now the race could not be held.. But snow is forecasted for later in the week and into the weekend. Mark and Scott at Lakes of the North have shown they can groom with 4 inches of snow.

The Wintersonnewende has been modified to two flat laps on a 5-6K loop on the golf course. Race starts at 9:30am as originally scheduled, but there will only be a freestyle division.
We are looking at having the Wintersonnewende Freestyle & Classic race - but modifying the race course to stay on the on the golf course. And shortening distance.

The first XC ski race of the winter in North America was held under beautiful sunny skies and a firm but compliant trail. Racers could be seen in shorts and t-shirts as they skied the Ski Fest course.
