Vasa Ski Club's Eli Brown jumped the top of the Michigan Cup standings by winning the Black Mountain Classic race last weekend. Amy Powell held onto to her lead to take the Women's Title

While Saturday's Black Mountain Classic was deemed "The Beauty", Sunday's skate race was "The Beast", according to Michael Bourassa. Michael Seaman described the course as "11k-ish uber hilly, with steep ups, and very fast wide open descents.
Ken Dawson said it best: "The Black Mountain 30k Classic course had the best conditions in 9 years. With ample snow and cool temperatures, the race was the perfect setting for Tracy Hardin and Eli Brown to put another win under their belts.
UPDATED: Eventually where there is a tie, head to head competition will apply. Lots of close results so grab as many points this last weekend as possible.
Erin Lipp took another win this weekend, finishing first in the Cross Country Ski Headquarter's Muffin Pursuit Race. In the boys race, Andrew Bruning had the fastest legs of the day to finish in 25:04.
It was a family celebration as Erica and John O'Hearn crossed the finish line as the top women and man at the Boyne Mountain Grinder cross country ski race.
Official points keeper Ken Dawson has released the latest standings for the 2013 Michigan Cup Series. Vasa leads! Eivnd Kragebakk and Erin Lipp lead they junior standings, with Amy Powell and Ryan Harris (barely) on top of the senior standings.
Preparations are continuing for the 9th annual Black Mountain Nordic Classic 30 km Classic race on Saturday March 2nd and the 1st annual March into Madness 10 km freestyle on Sunday March 3rd.
With competitors breathing down their backs Ryan Harris and Mariah Frye crossed the finish line first to win the Forbush Corner Freeestyle.
It was a sweep for the Staits Striders, with Denny Paull and Tracy Hardin each taking first place in the Hanson Hills Classic.
