UPDATED: Yesterday's freestyle sprint race and today's classic race at the Boyne Valley Lodge were the first opportunities for junior skiers to earn points toward Junior Nationals in Alaska. Previous Junior National Qualifying races have been cancelled.

The first day of the Junior National Qualifier race at the Boyne Valley Lodge in Walloon Lake is over. The day started with freestyle sprint prelims: a 1km freestyle loop with the top 24 males and females moving on to the elimination rounds.

Snow cover is good at the Boyne Valley Lodge but sticks on the trail make it hard to set classic tracks... If classic skiing is not good here, we will do the classic race on Sunday at Boyne Mountain on the Vista Loop (excellent condition).

UPDATED RESULTS! Amy Powell and Milan Baic won the senior divisions of the first ever Michigan Cup Race held at Lakes of the North Winterstart freestyle 7.5 km race. This was a very challenging race as very soft conditions prevailed.
