Williams and Wiitala win High School Championships Pursuit

Traverse City's Ross Williams was the overall champion of the Michigan High School Cross Country Ski Championship Pursuit on Friday, February 18 on the Vasa Trail in Traverse City, MI. With the fastest classic and second fastest skate time, his overall time of 31:13 just edge out teammate Evan Cover by a single second. Eric Wagner of Marquette for third, another 9 second back.

Yoopers took all three spots in the Girls Pursuit, starting with Ellen Wiitala from Marquette High School winning in 31:05. Ruth Oppliger and Evelyn Delong, both from the Copper Country Ski Team, were second and third in 31:19 and 32:19.
