Wed, Sep  28, 2005 - By Susan Brian & Robert Mahaney

Marquette, MI — The Noquemanon Trail Network (NTN) has hired a new full-time Executive Director.  Susan Brian, a Marquette native & NMU graduate will be starting her position immediately.  She will be taking over the tasks that former Director Carol Fulsher had done in the past through a contract with the Lake Superior Community Partnership(LSCP).

“We are excited about the opportunities that Susan will bring to our organization” commented Robert Mahaney, President of the NTN.  “She has a wealth of knowledge in the Cross Country ski, mountain bike and outdoor recreation industries.  To have a full-time, year-round Director dedicated to the NTN will certainly benefit our membership, area businesses and the community as a whole.”

Brian operated the award winning Crystal Mountain Nordic Center in Thompsonville, MI, maintaining 40 KM of cross-country and mountain bike trails.  She also served on several governmental agencies and non-profit boards involving the outdoors that all tie together well with the NTN.   “I am excited about the opportunity to develop the NTN into a thriving, nationally recognized trail system.  I would hope that the NTN trail system could become a destination for non-motorized trail users year-round”, said Brian.  “It is so encouraging to see that Marquette and the surrounding communities embrace the NTN and non-motorized trail access.  I am very impressed with the work that has already been done by the NTN.  The volunteers are a key component of this organization and the reason why the organization is where it is today.”

Susan will be focusing on fundraising, membership & operation of the 75 kilometer of trails that fall under the NTN umbrella.  Her main priorities for this winter will be establishing a regular grooming schedule on the NTN trail network, facilitating programming and events for fundraising and enhancing the trail experience for all trail users.

The Noquemanaon Trail Network is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization that promotes development of integrated, multi-use, non-motorized trails.  For more information on the NTN, contact Susan Brian at (906)235-2362.
