It’s time to think about setting up your ski and snowboard preparation area. Here are our options regarding tables and vises.
We have two workbenches which are very stable by themselves, but are also portable such that they can be moved and brought to events and set up in tents, hotels, and on the snow.
Both the Workbench Small and Racing Workbench are compatible with the XC Profile Set for Wax Tables (on right below). These profiles slide into the table making them easy to transport and efficient. Another option would be to go with the Cross Country Profile (on left below) which is a profile that would sit on top of a workbench or any other kind of table.
Sold separately to the Cross Country Profile are Legs which enables the Cross Country Profile to be a stand alone item which I find to be great when traveling when I am unsure if there will be a table to use. It is very stable. Also shown are Clamps for affixing it to a table:
For those who have a table and anticipate being able to use tables in houses, waxing areas, and hotels and simply want a 3 part travel vise, there are two excellent options: Ski Vise Nordic and Ski Vise Nordic World Cup. They are the same except Ski Vise Nordic World Cup offers a longer area of support for the tips and tails and thus is superior but not quite as compact. Here are short videos showing the Ski Vise Nordic and Ski Vise Nordic World Cup.
SkiMo/Backcountry Fixation Options
The Express Backcountry Vise is optimal for those who have a set up with Tech Bindings. The tech binding clicks into the middle part of the 3 part vise securing the ski. If a person already has a set of vises to support the tips and tails and only wants the middle part that the tech binding clips into, then the Express Backcountry Vise (Centerpiece only) is the best option.
Having a good vise and maybe workbench makes waxing and maintaining skis far easier and more effective.
Here’s to a great fall!
