Today the USA M5 relay team took bronze at the World Masters Cup in Falun, Sweden. The team consists of three Michigan Cup skiers; Milan Baic, Randy Bladel, and Cliff Onthank, plus Del Pletcher from Sun Valley.

The course should be especially great this year with the recent efforts of the MSEA Union, DNRE , TBTA and Senator Jason Allen to allow grooming of the entire outside perimeter of the course for the remainder of the winter.
The Copper Country Ski Tigers won the Michigan State Championships, having both the best girls and best boys team. The Traverse City Central Trojans were second, followed by the Marquette Senior High School Varsity team.

Today the 10K races at the World Masters Cup in Falun were delayed an hour due to a temperature at the track of -25C, or -13F. At least it was sunny with no wind. The snow was still cold and rather slow, though not as bad as yesterday.
Two Straits Striders topped the standings. Tracy Hardin finished over 2 minutes head of Ann Wagar. In the men's race, Denny Paull's powerful doublepole propelled him to the top spot.
Milan Baic has won the first medal for the United States, a bronze in the 30 K freestyle, M5 class. Conditions were "brutal", according to Milan, worse than the cold White Pine of the past.
Maybe it was the wax, but more likely it was the fitness and technique of Dave Maclean and Susan Vigland that made them the the Champions of the first Cote Dame Mare.
