Mon, Feb 16: Huron Meadows Metropark (Brighton)
Classic skied from 12 to 2. Decent donditions with good tracks. Areas in shade were really good and sunny spots were slower. Still nice to get out and do somethng. Connector still there for now.
Hopefully traiil in the woods makes it through the next few warm days. Maybe we get another week or so iin woods with no connector if all goes well.
Thanks for doing what you guys do to keep us going in trying weather conditios.

Sun, Feb 15: Maybury State Park (Northville)
Perfect day to use your B skis. The base at Maybury is still pretty solid and was very icy this morning. I’m guessing will be slushy this afternoon. Most of the tracks are decent except that people have walked on them and the sun doesn’t help. I saw one other skier out there this morning. Enjoy the natural snow while you can!

Love the Valentine's Day Buck's Snow and the track to the parking. Like a sweet marshmallow. Definitely worth five bucks.
Winter returns next week.

Fri, Feb 13: Stoney Creek Metropark (Shelby Township)
Skied in the afternoon and found snow cover on golf course was much better than anticipated and most of the groomed tracks were still usable. Sunny areas were soft while shady areas were still moderately icy. Stayed out of the woods assuming trails would be an icy chopped up mess because of all the walkers. Golf course skiing should be reasonable for at least one more day.

The snow is a bit packed compared to two days ago when they added new stuff. A bit bumpy but fast. One or two slick spots, but good skiing overall. I was there in the late afternoon.

32° and 3mph wind with sunny skies at noon. Outstanding groom of corn snow on Bucks run. My Fischer RCR crown. worked perfectly in these snow conditions, which were identical to yesterday, though air temp 5° warmer. Classic tricks remained in very good condition for the two hours I skied both days. So bright I needed my sunglasses:-) 10 miles/16.1km x2

Attempted an early morning classic ski on the golf course. Iceland! Lot of grass burning through too. Don’t bother. Skate deck was ice as well. I expect the woodland trails to be very dicey.

Snow was added to trail today. So it is a little soft for skating. But still very skiable from building and back is still there.
Disappointing to see the snow guns put away today. Long term forecast shows cold for several weeks after this few day warm up. Looks like they are giving up already.

Wed, Feb 11: Independance Oaks (Clarkston)
Icy boiler plate around the lake but the Spring Lake loop is more skate-able. It is not ideal for skating but doable, classic skiing would be better if you are double poling but diagonal striding will be a challenge with no discernible set tracks. The skiing is best in the woods west of the lake as it is more crusty than icy. Please be cautious on the down hills.
