No surprise here: You get the members of the team out to race, you have some good results, and you win the overall Michigan Cup...again! Congratulations to the Cross Country Ski Headquarters!
The winners have been chosen for the raffle fundraiser to help support Reid Goble, a professional cross-country skier from northern Michigan and former Michigan Cup skier!
The final team and individual results - including Top 10% medal winners and most points - for the 2025-2025 Michigan Cup Season.
A team composed of two GRNST and one HHCCSS skier was the fastest relay team, but the Headquarters conquered the overall race with more teams and top finishes.
Wax recommendations for the this weekend's races! Recommendations for the Bear Chase are out, but nothing is currently available for Sunday's Michigan Cup Relays. As soon as I have a recommendation, I'll update this article.
Four teams from the upper peninsula and three from the lower peninsula competed this past weekend at the 2026 Michigan High School and Middle School Nordic Ski Championships at Hickory Hills in Traverse City, Michigan.
HHCCSS won 8 of the 13 Brumbaugh Cup races, led by Jorden Wakeley and Rebecca Davis and supported a roster of very strong skiers. Grand Rapids Nordic was second, holding off Team NordicSkiRacer who took third.
Ryan Harris and Sarah Newmister were the top finishers on the new course at the 2026 Black Mountain Freestyle.
It seems that every Friday before the Black Mountain Classic, Mother Nature throws a doozy of a curve ball at the Black Mountain trails.
Wax recommendations for this weekend's Michigan Cup races: Black Mountain and the HS Championships!
Hanson Hills/Cross Country Ski Shop continues to lead the Brumbaugh Cup as of the Muffin Race, with 705 points. Grand Rapids Nordic is in second with 934 points, just 12 more than third place Team NordicSkiRacer.
Check out the overall individual Michigan Cup standings with corrections and current team rosters as of Feb 23, 2026 (PDF). This includes all races through the Muffin Race and includes any corrections.
We had 42 young skiers compete at the 33rd Annual Junior Muffin races this year! Some truly fast skiers out there, and everyone competed with Heart!!

Forbush Corner: Well it's a mess up north right now. We are busy digging out our own properties and waiting for the snowplows to clear the roads before venturing out to check the trails. We will assess the facilities and trails tomorrow and post plans for the week later on Tuesday.
Timber Ridge: In response to the Timber Ridge "charging" trail conditions post, this was an error our our staffs part and if you have purchased a season pass for the 2025/2026 season you may still use it and not pay the $10 day pass fee. While the season pass has expired, we will still honor it for skiing. Please note that while our grooming efforts will be considerably less, you are still welcome to ski with your pass. We set an expiration date to let you know the date that we will be cutting back on grooming efforts but it is still valid for skiing. If you have questions related to our management practices, please feel free to reach out to us. We would much rather correct that in person than have to find out about it on a trail conditions forum :)

Forbush Corner: Looks like we will be open today, but closed tomorrow, Monday. After the storm really figures out where it is going, we will make a call and reopen sometime this week. Windy and snowing currently at the corner. 240 loop, Ridge, Pancake, Badlands and Green Loop get the fresh groom this morning. All trails open. 100% coverage. Open 9 to 5.
Forbush Corner: Based on the heavy snow/ice storm warning we are closing for everyone's safety.
Cross Country Ski Headquarters: We've received another 2-3" so far. The trails are open, but we will not be grooming again until potentially tomorrow. There is full coverage on all the trails, and they were packed and groomed yesterday, so it should be a solid foundation under the 3' of fresh snow we've seen so far. Blizzardy conditions with no signs of letting up any time soon. We call this 'adventure skiing'!
Vasa Trail: Went to TImber Ridge to ski the Vasa trail and was informed that the season pass runs out March 1st and now you have to pay. I never thought they had this policy in the past and it is a bad one. If you have a season pass to ski from TR it should be for the whole ski season. If you agree and out at TR you should voice your opinion to management.

Vasa Trail: Thanks to the groomers for setting classic tracks & corduroy with the Tidd Techs in the fresh 2-4” snow on the Spring Grooming Pattern for a wonderful ski in the mid 30s sunshine this afternoon. There were several friends enjoying the trail. I skied from the Vasa Singletrack on Riley’s to 4 Corners, then to The Rock & back. The groomers started at the Bartlett trailhead, groomed Headwaters & Special K, in addition to what I skied. The VST has a new porta potty & 2 outdoors changing rooms, so convenient access from Supply Rd, esp if you don’t have a high clearance vehicle to drive to The Rock. Although we sprung forward, I’m glad to ski some more as long as conditions aren’t icy!
Nubs Nob: Mother Nature and Nubs Groomers teamed up today for the perfect Red and Blue loop experience . Blue bird sky , perfect corduroy, and SO MUCH SNOW!
Forbush Corner: Perfect conditions at Forbush this morning. I actually waxed my good skis and they were so fast. Westside trails, pines loop all perfect. Thank you for this sunny bonus day!!
Cross Country Ski Headquarters: Beautiful spring day. Full coverage and groom. Temp in the 20s. Suntan day. 1 lap down. Gotta go the trails calling. Get out here if you can. Swix violet.
Boyne Mountain: Lower trails are rolled and Family Trail is trackset. It's a gorgeous day in the neighborhood!
Cross Country Ski Headquarters: Oh what a beautiful morning! Groomer Mike is out rolling all the trails with plans to snow-comb afterwards. The snow we received over the past 236 hours has resulted in full coverage on all trails. The cafe is open and the sun is shining, so come on out and Ski With Us!
Forbush Corner: Today is Founders Day at the Corner and Dave has made sure that we would have plenty of snow to groom and ski to celebrate. The raffle drawing for the Reid Goble fundraiser is also on tap at 10AM. We plan to groom the majority of our trails, tilling in the 4 to 6 inches received over the last few days, putting us back to 100% coverage. Trail passes for non-season pass holders are reduced to $10. A major winter storm is forecast starting late Saturday night and going into Monday for the northern lower and UP. Guess you could say today is the calm before the storm. Check out the weather forecast and stay informed. Open at 9. Gates close at 5.
