You may have noticed over the years that the equipment suppliers are either very quiet or providing very general information leaving out the most interesting details that aficionados would want to see. This is not by choice.

An Ohio Nordic/Hilltoppers XC tradition since 2005, we have held enduros all over - in multiple states. This is a "ski-as much as you (and your friends, neighbors and family) can/want in one hour" on a ~1K groomed loop.

Due to the extremely heavy snow conditions this year, we have decided to go back to a two-lap 50k race. The constantly drifting snow and major equipment issues have forced this decision.

LATEST TRAIL CONDITIONS

SUN, FEB 17

Midland City Forest: Was there today in the late afternoon.
It was great, I think the trails were groomed yesterday night or today in the morning after the Snow Moon Run of yesterday, even if the RainOut on the website does not mention it. The tracks were in a fairly good shape in the north and south loops.

Valley Spur: Beautiful day out there, but super soft conditions. So much snow that the trails feel like a luge course.

Big M: Outstanding conditions this weekend! Seems like the best conditions in years. The new groomer works great! Kudos to the groomers.

Nubs Nob: 2+ feet of snow the past week with all loops powertilled and tracked yesterday and today equals world class.

Stokely Creek: Best midwinter conditions ever in 25 years of skiing Stokely! Super deep base, firm packed skate lane, and perfectly formed classic tracks. Kicking and gliding up Jackrabbit, and great speed and control on the downhill. Stokely has downhills with as much vertical as many Michigan downhill slopes. Check it out soon if you never have....

Big M: February 15, 2019 All trails were groomed on Friday, Feb. 15 and again today, Sunday, February 17. The groomer was able to repair damage done by a snowmobile that rode on Ryberg Road and Double Bit. Good conditions.
Dave B, our groomer, can be reached at 231 848-7047.
NOTE: please do not park in front of the gate. Also, if you hike or snowshoe the trails, please stay to the side and off the ski tracks.

Huron Meadows Metropark: Got to Buck's Run early this morning (7:45) and the groomers were already well on their way to having the longer loop completely tilled and groomed. The trail leading out to the woods is pure ice, so I walked out there imagining the worst, but was more than pleasantly surprised when I saw the sugary groomed trail. It was fast and controllable. Thanks to the HM staff for continuing to provide the down state skiers such an amazing place to ski!

Boyne Mountain: Excellent skiing this weekend! Thank goodness for the sun yesterday and the break in the storm pattern!

All the lower and upper trails are open and in great shape. Vistas is still somewhat wind-blown and Deer Run is not groomed.

Huron Meadows Metropark: Two Skate Skiers in already reporting excellent conditions
Groomers are setting classic up now

Cross Country Ski Headquarters: It was a fabulous, sunny day at XC Ski HQ yesterday, with best ever conditions and lots of skiers! Today will be just as great, with mild, mid-20's temps and great conditions for classic and skating. Groomer Mike snow combed all the trails last night, and tracks are in excellent shape, so trails are ready early today for maximum enjoyment! Snow depth in the woods is 24 to 27 inches, and packed on the trail about 13 to 15 inches.

Today’s Stone Turtle Day Lodge Cafe the Gourmet Chili Bar! Start with our famous Classic Chili or Veggie Chili, then head a bunch of toppings and feast. Perfect for a day on the trails. Have fun skiing today!

Hanson Hills: It is Hanson Hills Classic Race Day! Interval Start race that will take you from the Trail head through Section 1 and Wanderlust, to Blue, Brown, Yellow and M-93 hills back to the Start/Finish area. Race begins at 10am. All Trails are groomed with set track. Trails are open for all skiers, we do ask that weekend skiers avoid Section 1 and Wanderlust during the duration of the race (10-11am). Lodge and trails open at 9am.

Forbush Corner: Headed out to re-groom the main trails and The Freeway Trail this morning. Come out and ski. Everything on sale in the shop.
