LATEST TRAIL CONDITIONS

THU, NOV 15

Bay Meadows GC: Glad to see so many trail reports, as mentioned earlier by another skier, Bay Meadows still has some very good skiing. The skate loop is around 2.5 K and has been skied in nicely. Skied over 20k with Milan.

Bay Meadows GC: Still good skating as of noon today. Grass beginning to show near the road but avoidable

Michaywe: Golf course at Michaywe has a frozen base and some fluff over the top. Just in from a nice skate ski - some of the best early season skiing in a while. Usually the ground is too warm and you get the slushy icing situation but not today! All good.

Noquemanon Trail-Forestville: Forestville Real Grooming Report: It has been 4 days of skiing on the roller packed Noque to 17k, Animoosh, Papasay, Boozhoo, Zhing, and the stadium. Continued cool weather has kept trails in good shape. The surface is uneven but coverage is very good.

Our call for feedback produced comments from Jack, Laurie, Vivian and Joe just to name a few. The most useful write up follows: “Out at 9:30 AM and the center of the trail is well packed, narrow and bumpy, and the edges powdery. Around 12 K the Noque path widens and continues to 14 and skating is good. Coming back the hill demands more than the usual caution and the sun improved the snow condition. Awaiting good conditions for the equipment to groom. Jack”

WED, NOV 14

Nubs Nob: Nubs has picked up another 1-2 inches over the past couple of day and their site is showing 18-inches since last Friday. Both upper loops continue to firm up and have gotten much faster since the weekend. They have packed and dragged the trails each day. No track set, but fantastic pre-Thanksgiving skate conditions.

Valley Spur: Rolled in around 6 to 8 inches of snow on A,B backwards to Heart Attack and G return,D and down Skaters Heaven today. Then set track on A, B backwards to the bottom of Heart Attack and back,Stairway to Heaven, across X and down Classic Heaven. Tracks are too thin in a few spots but overall good. Rolled trails are wide enough to skate but pretty uneven in most areas. Rock skis should be used throughout. We need more snow. Good news is we are off to an early start and we don't have the flooded areas we did last year so with snow things will shape up quickly. We will not be grooming the entire system(only certain sections) until after deer season to avoid skier/hunter issues

Bay Meadows GC: Conditions improved again due to the numerous skiers who have skied in the track like it was groomed. Based on all the people I have communicated with this might be the best venue to ski for right now, plus it is .6 miles from my condo, can you believe it. The HS team was training today and I was able to ski with Milan for 10k. Even though he skis at a level one workout, it is nice to hang with a nordic icon. Tomorrow morning should be great, but after a sunny 40d day it might be a little thin after that. Keep the reports going!

Rendezvous Ski Trails: We are 1-week away from the start of the 2018 Yellowstone Ski Festival. There have been many inquiries about the conditions on the Rendezvous Ski Trails here in West Yellowstone. As of yesterday, the trails have been rolled and finished. We have not groomed, but skier activity on the trails has helped to compact the snow, resulting in faster, early-season conditions. Reports from skiers indicate the skating “good” and classic is “fair.”

Nighttime temperatures hover around zero degrees and often dip down to several degrees below zero. The low last night was -15ºF. Daytime temperatures are also working in our favor, rarely reaching above the freezing mark. These low temperatures help maintain the snow levels.

Snow conditions are early season with cold, fast powder covering the trails. All trails except Windy Ridge are rolled and skiable.

Area trails, including the Riverside, Boundary, and Frontier Trails are all in skiable condition.

If necessary, there is plenty of snow on the secondary venue of the South Plateau. In the event that the snow on the Rendezvous Trails melts out, there will be skiing on the South Plateau. However, at this time, our focus remains on the Rendezvous Trails. The next pulse of moisture is predicted for Thursday night into Friday morning. We will post more information following the result of that potential storm.

We are looking forward to another exciting, fun-filled week. The evening activities at the Holiday Inn offer something for everyone. For more information and up-to-date reports, like our Facebook page, Rendezvous SkiTrails, and bookmark www.SkiRunBikeMT.com.

With sincere thanks,
Moira Dow
Yellowstone Ski Festival Director

ABR Trails: We have been working hard grooming daily to smooth and freeze down trails. We are being a bit more particular on opening conditions so we are going to wait until Saturday to open. We will be opening the ski shop and trails Saturday November 17 at 9 am. We Ginzu groomed 32 km today and are working on widening and opening additional km, it is a slow process with the 2 feet of snow and warm ground. Thank you for your patience….for mid November skiing. Hope to see you this weekend!

Nubs Nob: Nub's Nob will open this Saturday & Sunday! All 21K of our XC trail system will also be packed and in early season condition. Give the Snow Crew a high five when you see them, they have been full throttle turning the place from green to white.

Valley Spur: Welcome to the start of the 2018/19 ski season! It looks like the" snow might just stay so grooming starts today!" I will be doing some rolling and maybe set some track today depending on snow depth. We will keep everyone posted. Think Snow!

Noquemanon Trail-Forestville: Forestville Real Grooming Report: Over the week end Andy roller packed 6-8 in at FVTH and roller packed Noque to 17k, Animoosh, Papasay, Boozhoo, Zhing, and the stadium. Weather has continued to bless skiers with cool days and cold nights. I am sure the trails are thin but still skiable.
