LATEST TRAIL CONDITIONS

TUE, JAN 22

Hanson Hills: Skied the blue trail this afternoon. Things were a bit soft in spots and there were places with grass and leaves coming through. Great skiing, tracks were fast, A skis okay with a big of care.
It even skied well after a week at Swedetown.

Vasa Trail: The groomers only had 1" of fresh snow over the past two days to work with for this morning's grooming, but it was enough to install nice fresh corduroy. The result was the best under-the-ski feel in a week, much softer and nicer than the recent hardpack. Not real fast until the cold snowflakes lose some of their sharp edges making that growling noise as they resist the motion of your waxed base. Only a couple of thin spots, and another fresh but smaller batch of oak leaves to dodge.

Huron Meadows Metropark: Shallow classic tracks on Buck's Run today. But still very usable. Great ski on the skins.

Skate lane looks great too.

Noquemanon Trail-Forestville: All trails inside 17k groomed, but very soft because it just doesn't stop snowing here. Conditions were considerably faster because temps broke the 20 degree mark. Nice, warm day! Blue extra was alright, slipping a bit in the new snow.

Valley Spur: Lake effect snow through the weekend which Dan has all groomed in. Some light snow overnight, so great classic skiing with anything Blue. Skate lanes are in Excellent shape with a flat deck and solid pole plants.

Hanson Hills: All Trails are groomed with set tracks. Groomer Tommy G. snow combed Green, Brown, and Blue trails yesterday afternoon. Lodge and Trails open at 9am.

Cross Country Ski Headquarters: Conditions remain in very good shape on the majority of the trails. Groomer Mike is snow combing the skating lanes this morning. Tracks remain on all trails, with the best tracks found on the Trappers Cabin trail. The best conditions are on the Rolling Hills, Trappers Cabin, Wild Turkey and Manitou trails. There is a lot of snow in the forecast for tonight (3-5 inches) and tomorrow (3-5 inches), which will cover up the oak leaves completely and put us in great shape for the coming weekend!

Today's Stone Turtle Cafe lunch special is the Classic Hammy Sammy! Baked ham, Swiss cheese, sliced tomatoes, and stone ground mustard on a delicious Swiss roll. Served melty and hot with chips and a pickle! Plus, it's a great time to demo the Fischer Speedmax Skate skis! Incredibly lightweight, these skis offer whole new level of speed. Find some snow and enjoy this beautiful day!

MON, JAN 21

Huron Meadows Metropark: Buck's Run was great for skate and classic. Very fast for classic! The north 5k loop was groomed for skate and decent (you could classic there too but not enough snow for deep tracks). Use your rock skis though. Some ground showing through in some spots but decent overall. It was a nice break from BR and the sun was out!

Huron Meadows Metropark: Another great day of classic skiing on buck's run.

Lost Lakes Pathway: A fun 1:40 hr afternoon ski close to home with Paula at Lost Lakes Pathway. The Campground loop has enough coverage for good skis, but not much of a track. As always, the big, back loop, that weaves around several lost lakes, had more snow, 4-6" & deep tracks. We skied clockwise so we could return along the shore of Lake Dubonnet, and since there were fishermen out on the ice, we skied across part of the lake, checking out 2 augered holes of approx 4-5" depth. There was no wind chill in the woods, and the sun felt warm! One of my favorite skis this season at LL!

Huron Meadows Metropark: Nice Classic and Skating at Huron Meadows this afternoon. Tracks deep, skate lane fast. Buck's Run is in fine shape!

The golf course has been rolled - no tracks, lots of wind-blown areas from yesterday. No grooming elsewhere, although lots of classic skiers have broken trail around the lake and the south side of Hammel Road. Cold, sunny...and no wind! Great day to ski!

Huron Meadows Metropark: Skied 9:30 ish so pretty cold. Stayed on Buck’s Run to skate loops, conditions very good

Saw the groomer on golf course but did not venture out

Get outside and pay your$ for them maintaining Bucks Run

Stokely Creek: The cold weather is passing and going up to 27 degrees by Wednesday. Starting tomorrow we have 3 days of snow in the forecast. Fresh snow alway makes things better. Our trails are in great shape no bare spots and all trail are open. Howard a regular skier said his skin skis were working great.
On Saturday Feb 2 , you can ski-snowshoe-ski. Ski to Stokely Lake Cabin put on your portered snowshoes and follow Bob Yankus for a guided tour around Moose Mt, Lonesome Beaver ponds, and ice cliffs. Back at Stokely Lake Cabin enjoy a Stokely lunch before skiing back to the lodge. Call 866-stokely for reservations.

Forbush Corner: Whole system in great shape. Skate deck is firm, skiing slow of course due to the extreme cold but should get better as it gets warmer this afternoon. Classic tracks are in really nice shape. Come on out!

Shanty Creek - Schuss Mtn: Great skiing, fast track on hard snow. Best bet are Pine Cone, Winter Brook and King of the Hill. It’s a brisk sunny day for skiing at SCR...

Cross Country Ski Headquarters: Many hearty souls took to the trails in the crisp sunshine yesterday, and enjoyed some great ski conditions on the Headquarters trails. Groomer Mike will snow comb the skating lanes later this morning. Tracks on the Trappers Cabin are still in great shape. The best conditions are on the Rolling Hills, Trappers Cabin, Wild Turkey and Manitou trails. Barring some oak leaves, conditions are overall very good for skating and good for classic, with some fabulous stretches out there. The skiing will be wonderful today, with temps in the low teens the sun shining. More snow on the way this week!

Today's Stone Turtle Cafe lunch special is the Gourmet Mac 'n Cheese Bar! Feast on our deluxe, cheesy mac ‘n cheese, and choose from a variety of toppings to create your own mac-sterpiece. Plus, the 2020 Fischer Speedmax 3D Skate Skis are now here! Stop by HQ for a free demo (psst... they're on sale, too!). Enjoy the great skiing and sunshine today!
