The Pursuit Fork Flex skate rollerski is great for anyone skiing on pavement, and particularly for skiers forced to ski on sections of rougher pavement.

Mid-Summer Doublepole Technique Check

6/24/2016 - By Judy Geer

No snow around this time of year—just pavement and the various poling machines. But that doesn’t mean you can’t be working on your technique. And with the growing prevalence and importance of double-poling, this seems like a good area to focus on.

Hammer all you want. You'll get faster and stronger. But if you spend some time practicing your downhill technique, you may get faster sooner.

LATEST TRAIL CONDITIONS

FRI, NOV 16

Bay Meadows GC: First ski of the season at Bay Meadows Golf Course with Kathy Cook-Dowd & Janine Hardin, and ok, except my lack of fitness & balance on the uneven snow. Thanks to the VSC members who have skied in a trail. Some of the asphalt cart path is exposed, so be careful. And, of course, respect the greens.

Hanson Hills: Although we have not started our grooming process yet. Trails have 2-3 inches of coverage. that would provide for some great wilderness skiing. Warmer weather is predicted for the future so we will be holding off on grooming. Feel free to adventure out onto the trails, All main trails have been cleared and mowed (PRE-snowstorm) Wilderness Loop ( Section 1, Wanderlust, and Bucksnort were mowed and cleared (PRE-snowstorm).

Lodge will not be open this weekend.

THU, NOV 15

Bay Meadows GC: Glad to see so many trail reports, as mentioned earlier by another skier, Bay Meadows still has some very good skiing. The skate loop is around 2.5 K and has been skied in nicely. Skied over 20k with Milan.

Bay Meadows GC: Still good skating as of noon today. Grass beginning to show near the road but avoidable

Michaywe: Golf course at Michaywe has a frozen base and some fluff over the top. Just in from a nice skate ski - some of the best early season skiing in a while. Usually the ground is too warm and you get the slushy icing situation but not today! All good.

Noquemanon Trail-Forestville: Forestville Real Grooming Report: It has been 4 days of skiing on the roller packed Noque to 17k, Animoosh, Papasay, Boozhoo, Zhing, and the stadium. Continued cool weather has kept trails in good shape. The surface is uneven but coverage is very good.

Our call for feedback produced comments from Jack, Laurie, Vivian and Joe just to name a few. The most useful write up follows: “Out at 9:30 AM and the center of the trail is well packed, narrow and bumpy, and the edges powdery. Around 12 K the Noque path widens and continues to 14 and skating is good. Coming back the hill demands more than the usual caution and the sun improved the snow condition. Awaiting good conditions for the equipment to groom. Jack”
