Pins Awarded to GLMS Racers

In 2003 the Great Lakes Marathon Series completed its fifth year. The GLMS consists of the Noquemanon Ski Marathon, White Pine Stampede, North American Vasa and the Great Bear Chase. A skier must complete three of the four races to earn a GLMS pin. This year 27 skiers earned a gold pin by completing three marathon distances and 15 skiers earned a silver pin by completing a combination of any three long and short distances. Skiers earning a pin in 2003 are shown in the table below. Congratulations to all of the GLMS pin winners.

Twelve skiers have earned a GLMS pin each of the first six years of the series. These Founders of the GLMS are ranked in order of completion by most kilometers skied in the table at the right. Four skiers have skied in all twenty-three marathons held during these last six years. They are Stephen Smigiel, Steve Smigiel and Bob West, all skiing all marathon distances and Randal Bladel.

Silver pins will be mailed shortly. Skiers earning a gold pin will have to wait until a new order of them is received. If a skier happens to read this list and does not received a pin it is most likely because we do not have your address.
